Here we are starting a new school year. All of us at SHM are excited to be a part of your child's most important growing & learning years. It is our desire to stay in communication with you and to also share with you important milestones from your child's busy, yet fun day at school. Buenos Dias,
Your child is receiving Spanish on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We have been continuing the "All about Me" ( Voy Hablarte de Me) theme in Spanish. We have been discussing the components of a family and learning the names for common objects in the home. We have also read a number of books: Mis Primeros 100 Palabras, Salta, Salta, El sombrero de Luis Lucero, La Pinata, Mi Hermanito and Froggy y Su Papa . The children are asked simple questions in Spanish and asked to identify common objects in the pictures. Everyone is learning a lot and having a great time.

Welcome old and new Rosebuds and parents to the new school year.
Our goals for October:
Establishing rules and procedures, working with materials on a mat, learning how to work with various Montessori materials, becoming more independent, increasing communication and social skills and improving fine and gross motor skills.
September's Theme:

October's Theme:
"Fall" and "Changes" , Language Arts Letters: "Mm" "Oo" "Pp" and "Cc" , Social Studies: North America , Science: Fire Safety.
Birthday Celebrations : We celebrated Chloe and Samuel who turned two.

DOLPHINS:
Hello Dolphin families and friends!
Your child's instructors this year will be Mrs. Shirley, Mrs. Charlene and Mr. Luis. We're off to a great start. We are establishing our classroom rules and learning new ways to use Montessori materials. We are all looking forward to working with your child. The theme for this month and into October is "All about Me". So far we have reviewed the colors red, green, yellow, blue, and orange. In math we worked on numbers 1-5 , and introduced the concepts over/under and top/bottom. The letters we've studied so far are Ll, and Tt. We reviewed the sounds the letters make, named objects that begin with each letter and worked on writing each letter. We are excited about the different reading levels in our classroom and continue to work with each child according to his/her abilities. If you have any questions please feel free to speak with us or call the school during nap time.

OUR GOALS are to have the children use their words more, feed themselves and put on and take off their shoes. We are showing the children how to work with the materials in the classroom while using a mat. This month we have been teaching the children the rules, policies and procedures. Parents we need your help, please allow your child to work independently at home with materials. Have patience when they try to put on their shoes, coats, etc.....
