2012 RECAP
Hello Parents,Family and Friends 10 months have passed and the Rosebuds class has grown so much ! Here is just a recap of the last ten months , please enjoy the pictures and captions of our school year !
The First Day of school was on Monday September 12 , 2011. We started with 8 students ....and we started our 100th day of school countdown . We kept a log of everything we did for 100 days .

By the third day of school we had seven students. Ziggy left us. It was a sad day but we were able to wave to him from across the hall. That day we created the rules of the classroom . On the fifth day of school we celebrated Logn’s birthday. She turned 3 years old .

As the days of September continued we did a lot of reviewing numbers, colors and shapes. We learned a lot about our new environment and friends .
Our Second Birthday of the month was Zoe who also turned 3 years old .

The sixteenth day of school was October 4th. We started with the letter “Aa”. We focused on the sound and recognizing the symbol . For some students the letters were a review. For others they were an introduction . Each week the class focused on a new sound . We worked with numbers this month. The focus was one to one correspondence .
Also on this day we started with music with Ms.Katie for the second year. Ms. Emmie began the spanish emersion unit . On Friday we started our “Fun Work” (homework) . Every weekend we will send a notebook with the letter of the week and sound. The students are to cut out pictures and paste them into the notebooks. They will also trace their names’ and letters . This was a review for students. Ms .Dayna and Ms. Karen worked with students everyday with words ,objects and pictures that begin with name and sounds . Students traced names and letters .
In the month of October we started our author study of Eric Carl. We also began cooking. The children made veggie dip. They loved it!

The thirty-sixth day of school was on November 1 ,2011 we started a new author study. The students looked at the work of Tomie De Paola . On November 4th we had our Farmers Market . For the letter ‘Pp” we had a Pajama party. During the month of November we celebrated Callie Tate’s birthday. We also had our Thanksgiving Feast .
( picture of Callie ) For Thanksgiving we made Turkeys for the letter ‘Tt”. We asked the children what they are thankful for .......
On Monday December 1, 2011 we are back from our mini Thanksgiving Vacation. Our class continued the author study with Tomie Depalo. For the cultural studies unit we focused on the continent of Africa. On December 15 we had our end of the year celebration ! This month we celebrated Elle and Ms. Danya’s birthday.

Monday January 3, 2012 was the sixty sixty day of school. It was also our first day back from Winter Break. We continued with our letters, counting and writing . We are preparing for our trip to DC to the Smithsonian. A new student began on January 30, Ms. Victoria Ray

Feb 1, 2012 is the 86 day of school. This month we are going to read love poems from different authors . We also had a Valentin’s Day party . Our class also celebrated Black History month and prepared for our trip to Washington DC. February 24th was our 100th Day of school celebration .

Victoria read the book “Snake Dance “by Nora Gaydos to our class. The author of the month is Dr.Suess. The letters of the month are B and K . Our Spring vacation started this month we were on vacation for two weeks .This month is Dr.Suess, Kyan and Aidan celebrated birthdays .

In April Ms. Karen introduced a new musical instrument to the class. The steel pan is from Trinidad. The children had fun playing the instrument. The identified Trinidad on the map . Also in the month of April Ms. Dayna created a new math material. The students went fishing for numbers and we made the letter Zz with popsicle sticks.
Our class is reviewing our numbers counting by 5’s and 10’s . We are going over the continents and the different countries we learned about this year. We discussed how to be nice to one another and listen to adults’ words. We talked about following directions . We are getting ready for a new session and learning about activities that we can do in the summer .
We’re enjoying our last few days with some of our friends that are moving on this month. Sebastian Graph is moving out of state. Kyan and Logan will not be with us in the fall. Our class is preparing for the End of the Year Celebration and we are also celebrating Celina’s birthday on June 30th.
