November is here!

ESPANOL
For the month of October I have been teaching our children Spanish following each class' daily curriculum. We have been learning to identify and name colors in Spanish.
The children are learning vocabulary words that emphasize everyday household objects (puerta, ventana, silla, mesa etc.) The context is always within conversation and with stories read aloud.
We practiced how to be safe in case of an emergency (practicamos como se debe de salir en caso de emergencia).
I'll continue to present the Spanish language with everyday practical use. We'll read stories, play games and sing traditional Spanish nursery rhymes.

ROSEBUDS
Our children are making signficant strides as they continue to develop age appropriate academic and social skills. We have introduced the letters (upper and lower case) along with the letter sounds. The letters introduced this month have been  /O/, /P/ and /C/.
The children have been learning the symbols for numbers 1-10 and understanding their quantity as works were introduced with Montessori and traditional manipulatives.
We sing the days of the week and months of the year.
We're enhancing social skills as we work together, take turns and converse with peers and teachers.

SUNFLOWERS
Hello students, parents, family and friends to the sunflower room.  We are continuing our journey to independence and we are glad to see that some progress is being made. Please continue to work with your child at home.  Thank you to all parents for making our Pajama party a success.  The children and the teachers enjoyed all of the creative foods that began with the letter "P". In the month of October the children have learned the rules of our classroom and they have now been given "class jobs".  For example: feeding the hermit crab, wiping the tables, setting the table for lunch, and material monitor. We have also put the students into groups and we are focusing on our fine motor skills(cutting, ripping, and writing)

DOLPHINS
 Hello Dolphin families,

Thank you for your continued support and a great October! Our farm trip and Pajama party were very successful. The food brought in for the pajama party was yummy in our tummies. The projects for Spanish Heritage Month were great! The kids took great pride in presenting their work. We hope that you enjoyed learning about different Spanish countries. The posters will be on display outside the Dolphins classroom.

For the month of November in math we will be working on writing numbers 1-10. We have also been learning about  bar graphs. Every morning a different graph is presented. A survey is then taken among the students. The children are responsible for remembering what they've voted for.We count the number of votes and chart them. The number of votes must line up with the numbers on the graph. The children are learning to gather the information, document the findings and interpret the graph.
In Language Arts we will continue learning and writing our letters. Many students are being introduced to word families. Others are receiving sight words to take home. Everyone's hard work is paying off. There are now a number of Early Readers in our room.
We will be working on hibernation and migration for our science piece.  For Social Studies we will talk about the different places throughout the world animals migrate. Friday afternoon's we have a theatre workshop. The children enjoy the class. They look forward to it.   The class takes place at 1:30  therefore lunch has moved up and there is a shorter nap time.
Again if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Mr.Luis, Ms.Charlene or Ms.Shirley.

Thank you for your continued support,
