Thank you to all who have returned the returning students form and reserved your child’s space for the next school year. We are very pleased with how many families will be staying with us and greatly value your support and confidence in us. Thank you! The deadline to return these forms is April 1st . We are blossoming into a community of wonderful preschool learners and appreciate your referrals.
Mrs. Tracey
As we enter into March our thoughts begin to turn to spring. It's only a matter of time until the grass is green and the flowers bloom, and the warm weather fills our heads with songs of spring time.
In the meantime it seems as if our classrooms have been flowing from one holiday to the next. We started with Martin Luther King's birthday, we carried on to Valentine's Day , Black History month, 100th day of school and Chinese New Year. We are now celebrating St. Patrick's day, Woman's History month and the coming of SPRING!
We are also glad to announce the opening of our new classroom
The Doves
with teacher Ms. Shana
So far we have had a visit from Illustrator Sean Qualls. Sean Qualls is the illustrator of Toni Morrison and Slade Morrison's Childrens book Little Cloud and Lady Wind. We also had a celebration with Mandarin teacher Mei Kee who shared lots of information with us about China and Chinese New Year.
Illustrator Sean Qualls
Some of the children came up to draw a cloud or wind like in the story Little Cloud and Lady Wind. Some children also took pictures with Sean Qualls as he autographed copies of Little Cloud and Lady Wind. The children a had a wonderful time hearing about the process of illustrating this book from start to finish.
CHINESE NEWYEAR
The children made tangrams as they celebrated the year of the tiger with Mei Kee (who the children call lǎoshī-the mandarin word for teacher)
100th DAY CELEBRATION
The children brought in a plethora of things ranging from 100 yummy things to eat to 100 pieces of fabric.
Rosebuds Class: Each child brought a set of 10 snacks to make a collection of 100 as they counted by tens.
Dolphins Class: Each child brought in a collection of 100 items from home. March Reminders
*Weather Madness
Who can predict the weather of March? In one day it can be raining, sunny and snowing! When the weather is warm we would like for the children to play outside and or we may take the children on neighborhood walks. In the event that we do your child will NEED a neighborhood walks permission slip. Without it your child will have to stay in another classroom until your child's class comes back from the neighborhood walk.
*Water Bottles
Parents please remember to bring in water bottles, as the weather gets warmer the children would like to drink at their leisure other than at lunch time
*6 p.m. Pick up Please be PROMPT!
We’ve recognized that parents need a better-tailored option for emergency care, especially when running late for pick-up.
It is very important that you arrive on time to pick up your child(ren) from school, and extended day school. Our dismissal times at school are 12 noon, 3:00 p.m and extended day ends at 6:00 p.m. Please help us maintain order during these transitional times, by being on time to pick up your child. Please be reminded that if your child is being picked up by someone other than you, please notify the office or Mrs. Tracey, so that we know who to expect at dismissal time. Our teachers need to lock the building at 6:00. in order to get to their classes, their children's school, and events they have planned with their families.
